About Our Open Access Policy

The Pakistan Journal of Food Sciences (Pak J Food Sci) is committed to the principles of open access to scientific research. We believe that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

What is Open Access?

Open access means that all published articles are made freely available online immediately upon publication, enabling any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles.

Publishing Fees and Open Access

To support the costs of publication and ensure sustainable open access, the Pakistan Journal of Food Sciences charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) after manuscript acceptance.

Color Figures Policy

Figures submitted in color will be published in color in the online version of the journal at no additional cost. If you wish to have color figures in the printed version, the fee will be determined during the production process.

The Article Processing Charge covers the costs associated with:

  • Typesetting and formatting
  • Online publication and hosting
  • Digital preservation
  • Indexing services

Copyright and Licensing

Authors publishing in the Pakistan Journal of Food Sciences retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right of first publication.

Licensing Terms

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

Word Limit: 6,000 words

Abstract: 250 words max

Tables/Figures: Up to 10 total

Short Communication

Word Limit: 3,000 words

Abstract: 150 words max

Tables/Figures: Up to 4 total

Review Article

Word Limit: 10,000 words

Abstract: 250 words max

Tables/Figures: Up to 10 total

Systematic Review

Word Limit: 7,000 words

Abstract: 250 words max

Tables/Figures: Up to 8 total

Case Study

Word Limit: 2,500-5,500 words

Abstract: 150-250 words

Tables/Figures: Up to 4 total

Commentary

Word Limit: 3,000 words

Abstract: 150 words max

Tables/Figures: Up to 3 total

Peer Review Policy

Double-Anonymized Review

The Pakistan Journal of Food Sciences employs a rigorous double-anonymized peer review process:

  • Identity Transparency: Double anonymized
  • Reviewer Interaction: With Editor and Associate Editors only
  • Review Information Published: None
  • Minimum Reviews: Two independent reviews required for acceptance
